ISD PESPA at Tagaytay International Convention Center |
Hji. Asaali S. Jadjulie retired last November,
2012, so Masdida M. Sarabi, TIC would occupy the position of Auditor while
Alyasir A. Hussam, should take the place of Kerwin C. Asid who transferred to
Mohammad Jadjurie Elementary School, Jolo – I District last July 30, 2013.
In the election of Division Federation of
PESPA, two school administrators from ISD were elected as members of the Board
of Directors. They were Filomena D. Sappari and Sitti Palman I. Mohammad.
Induction was conducted at ACC Bldg. of the Jolo Municipal Office where Hon. Judge
Hussien U. Amin, Municiapal Mayor led the oath taking. In the oath taking,
every District Supervisor/District In-Charge was cordially invited to witness
the sacred induction of Sulu PESPA officers.
ISD NQESH Passers |
From April 10-12, 2013, 33rd
Principals Development and National Board Conference was held at Tagaytay
International Convention Center where three ISD PESPA officers were in
attendance, Sitti Palman I. Mohammad, Dr. Hja. Sarah Y. Hayudini and Alyasir A.
Hussam. They did not just represent ISD; rather; they brought the name of Sulu
Division. It was a great recognition made by PESPA for ISD.
Up next accomplishment of ISD PESPA was the
regionwide conduct of NQESH. Jolo was one of the testing centers last October,
2012. Unfortunately, two school administrators missed to fill out the
registration forms for the exam. Thus, Nur-aisha A. Gonzales and Masdida M.
Sarabi were out of the testing center on the day of examination. Only ten
school heads plus the DIC chanced to take the NQESH.
Revitalization of Indanan Municipal School Board |
Awesome NQESH result for
ISD scattered all over Sulu Division. ISD got the highest number of passers
divisionwide. Alhamdulillah, the DIC and four instructional leaders, Kerwin C.
Asid, Hja. Nalda J. Muksan, Filomena D. Sappari and Sitti Palman I. Mohammad.
Surprisingly, one of them scored in the list of ninety-niners, no less than
Kerwin C. Asid, congratulations! They were given recognition by DepED-ARMM at
Grand Astoria Hotel, Zamboanga City last May 6, 2013. DIC’s success in NQESH
made also him to be one of the participants in the Module Development Workshop
at Pinnacle Hotel, Sta. Ana St., Davao City from July 1-7, 2013.
Atty. Jamar M. Kulayan at Pasil Closing Exercises 2013 |
School heads’ conquest over the Municipal
School Board is also the most highlighted achievement of ISD PESPA. It is
formally revitalized with vivid bank account opened at Islamic Amanah Bank –
Jolo Branch monthly allocated at the amount of P 15,000.00 by Hon. Saripuddin “Eddih”
D. Jikiri, Municipal Mayor. Much appreciated by Hon. Atty. Jamar M. Kulayan,
Regional DepED Secretary was the undying supports to the DIC shown by all
school administrators of ISD. It was disclosed by the Secretary to the DIC
based onhis observation during his noble presence at the Closing Exercises
2013 of two clustered graduations held at Pasil ES and Panglima Indanan Central
School. In his speech at PICS, the Secretary committed to construct gym or
covered court at the façade of the central school where upcoming closing exercises
may be hosted comfortably.
DIC at Module Development Workshop |
e-Class Program Challenges School Heads
Joy Sanchez, Division Coordinator on Kindergarten
urgently requested the appearance of DIC in her office prior to the arrival of
Ramadhan 2013. She revealed that 4 elementary schools in Indanan South District
would be recipients of e-Classroom under DepED Computerization. Every selected
school will be given 6 computer units powered by only 1 CPU with 1-year free
internet connection and other ICT facilities provided the school can afford to
show some counterpart requirements. Confirmation of every e-Classroom recipient
school was immediately needed by the e-Class Coordinator. Accordingly, the
facilities and installation would be arriving after Ramadhan so long as the
school would meet the requirements. In the event any school fails to produce
the said requirements, all e-Class facilities will be brought back to the DepED
Central Office.
Panglima Mammah ES |
Except Panglima Mammah Elementary School, the
rest could hardly disclose their firm decisions. TIC of Timbangan Elementary
School was stunned with a reason that the entire neighborhood of Barangay
Timbangan was suffering from Sulu Electric Cooperative (SULECO) disconnection
caused by their unpaid electric bill worth hundred thousands. Similarly, Sitti
Palman I. Mohammad former Principal of Poblacion Elementary School faced the
same issues on electricity like what Timbangan experienced. Head Teacher – III of
Pasil Elementary School positively assured that counterpart requirements were
not burden for Pasil Elementary School. Thus, Mrs. Sanchez handed to them the
guidelines for the preparation of e-Classroom Program as follows:
- Classroom should be 9m x 7m or approximately 63 sq. m. in floor area and should be ready to house two (1) Host PC and Six (6) Computer Terminals
- 4 Computer tables: two 4.8 x 0.8 meters; one 1.8 x 0.8 meters; and one 0.5 x 0.8 meters
- Fifty pieces of mono chairs
- Two units of stand fan
- Sufficient lighting
- Window and door grills
- Proper electrical wirings with circuit breaker
- Standard electrical outlets with appropriate load capacity
- Electrical grounding
- Cables for the ceiling
- Mounted projector
- One VGA cable (15 meters) – a VGA cable is a lead used for transmitting video signals. It is most commonly used to link computers with monitors. However, it is now used on some high definition televisions.
Note: Aircon is NOT REQUIRED.
In as much as Masdida M. Sarabi is
newly-designated TIC of a big school, Timbangan ES, the DIC decided to visit
her school for assistance. He asked the TIC about the full details of issues
and concerns of Timbangan ES in relation to the preparation for e-Classroom. Afterwards,
he provided the TIC with some strategic actions to optimistically resolve the
issues. After three days, Mrs. Sarabi raised her thumb up as she saw the DIC
coming again to her school. She gladly informed the DIC that SULECO would be
ready to reconnect electricity to every consumer’s house. Aside from it, PTCA
officers and other members were busy constructing tables required by e-Class.
What awesome initiative and potentials of newly-installed TIC!
Poblacion ES |
Further, the DIC visited Sitti Palman I.
Mohammad, ESP – I of Poblacion Elementary School where he heard pessimistic
expectation from the principal concerning the realization of e-Classroom in
said school. It took time for the DIC to motivate and convince the principal
for the alternative courses of action that must be done. Luckily, Timbangan ES
success for the preparation of e-Class counterparts gradually made Ms. Mohammad
to try it in her school. Fifty percent of the preparation was almost done when
she was reassigned to head Panglima Indanan Central School last July 30, 2013
and Alyasir A. Hussam, former TIC of Dayuan-Manilop Primary School took the
full school leadership authority in Poblacion Elementary School. Two days ago,
the TIC related to the DIC what he did in connection with the preparation for
e-Class. It seemed that was very pleasant to ears as the TIC stating the full
details of his efforts. He concluded that Poblacion would be now ready for the
arrival of e-Class. Another fantastic TIC!
Pasil ES |
Faisal A. Kadil was just installed last year to
oversee Pasil Elementary School when the DIC accepted the District Turn-over
made by retired Supervisor, Hji. Abdulgafor J. Madjaluddin last July 16, 2012.
Regardless of his insufficient administrative experience, Mr. Kadil possessed
huge optimism that everything would be possible if focused-efforts to strive
for the attainment of goal would be there. With it, he was first to post at DOC
some photos of his counterpart requirements for the e-Class.

Bright Smile, Bright Future of Palan ES
The only elementary school of Indanan South District
located between the Municipality of Talipao and Maimbung is the Palan
Elementary School. Its school building rises by the roadside of Jolo-Talipao National
Highway. Dr. Hja. Sarah Y. Hayudini, ESP – I is the school head who is now on
leave of absence for medication; thus; her sister, Juaisa Y. Muallam, T – I is
the Caretaker of the school as of today.
Palan
Elementary School is in complete elementary school status. It accommodates
school children from kindergarten to Grade 6 classes. One thing that made Palan
ES proud of is the intervention of the so-called Bright Smile, Bright Future
Program. Grade 1 pupils of this school are recipients of some common supplies
from said program such as toothbrush and tooth paste. It is a product of COLAGATE-PALMOLIVE
PHILIPPINES INC.
Juaisa Y. Muallam assisting Grade 1 Adviser |
Recently,
Palan ES was in receipt of some boxes of supplies from Bright Smile, Bright
Future Program. It contained items like toothpaste, toothbrush, flipbooks,
Teacher’s Guide and one CD. Pieces of toothpaste are as many as 51 in numbers;
toothbrush is 51 pieces; flipbook is a piece; Teacher’s Guide is also one; and
CD is one package, too.
Grade 1 pupils raising their toothbrush |
Target activity for Grade 1 is a proper way of tooth brushing. Lesson is explicitly expounded in a flipbook. Every pupil is advised to brush teeth at least three times a day. The School Caretaker, Juaisa Y. Muallam also assisted the Grade 1 Adviser in exploring the guidelines articulated in the flipbook. The Grade 1 Adviser integrates the lesson on tooth brushing in accordance with the procedures stated in the Teacher’s Guide. Likewise, viewing is also tackled in the classroom by using the CD wherein every Grade 1 learner is able to visualize the correct way of brushing the teeth with toothpaste.

Influence: Good Deeds Power Generation
Palan ES gardeners |
As I left
Palan ES yesterday, gardening activity became a part of my vocabulary till it
came out of my tongue in our talks with the principal and teachers of Panglima
Indanan Central School (PICS). When I was already home at night, I could not
stay relaxed unless I would have to post the pictures of Palan pupils digging
the soil for their garden plots.
Timbangan ES teachers at half-day IN-SET |
At 12 noon
today, I drove my Road Sports Honda 125 to Timbangan ES where I witnessed the
TIC, Masdida M. Sarabi facilitating the half-day IN-SET for the teachers. I was
given some minutes of opportunity to utter few words, "I really appreciate
your accomplishment and potentials, Timbangan teachers. What awesome strategies
you did in winning the sympathy of the people of the entire Barangay Timbangan
to pay their unpaid electric bills in SULECO (Sulu Electric Cooperative) that
made the entire neighborhood disconnected from the Cooperative! How many years
they bore their decision not to have electric light in their houses rather than
to pay their bills worth hundred thousand but because of your needs for the
preparation of the arrival of e-Class Program in your school, they renew their
decision to pay their electric bills! You are so important to them. That's
really your nobility in their sight. So, protect that nobility. That's your attire to them. Do not wear that attire off. Apparently, attire implies, first
and foremost, our prescribed DepED uniforms as teachers.”
District In-Charge, a witness of half-day IN-SET |
I proceeded
to PICS to get updates over new accomplishments of the newly-reassigned
principal, Sitti Palman I. Mohammad. A distance of meters away, pupils emerged
busy with their bolos and gardening tools in digging the soil for their
gardening plots. Instantly, the teachers asked me to give a shot for picture
taking of the pupils in their proposed plots. I put out my camera and focused
them when I heard a shout. . .”Wait for me, please. I’ll get first the
tarpaulin of Gulayan sa Paaralan.” I noticed it was the school principal. I concluded
that Palan ES gardening hastened PICS to build their plots of garden. It’s the
power of verbal dissemination and pictures of good deeds. It’s the power of
INFLUENCE.
I finally parked my RS by the roadside facing Poblacion ES planning to engage with people near the vicinity of the school, a recipient of e-Class Program, too. After a while, I glimpsed Alyasir A. Hussam, TIC driving his motorcycle from his annex school, Manilop PS. He updated me about their talks with teachers in preparation for District Meet 2013 and the all-out supports of the parents for the school programs and projects. He also planned to submit communication letter to the municipal mayor requesting financial assistance for the repair of school concrete panel.

First Day in My New School
Side view of PES facing Indanan-Parang National Highway |
Early
in the morning of August 1, 2013, I went to Poblacion Elementary School for my
first day as school head of the said school. Before my arrival at the target destination,
I passed by Dayuan Primary School, wherein I previously established an office for administrative tasks, purposely
to say some words of challenge and encouragement to the pupils, parents and
teachers. They were all happy to see me moving forward with shiny face having full of many new
challenges, duties and responsibilities inherent to my newly-elevated position from primary schools to bigger elementary school.
1-Day IN-SET for School Heads
12 school heads of Indanan South District were given a 1-Day IN-SET at Kasambuhan Village Elementary School yesterday, July 31, 2013. Ever since, a monthly IN-SET for all school administrators has not been conducted in the district except in the school level. Thus, the District In-Charge is in hesitance to establish it as modern practice though he has observed it is essentially needed as far as instructional leadership enhancement among school leaders is concerned.

- Preparation of Teaching-Learning Observation Chart (TLOC)
- Table of Specifications (TOS)
- Philippine Informal Reading Inventory (Phil-IRI)
- Daily Principal's Tasks (DPT)
- School Improvement Plan (SIP)
- National Competency-Based Teachers Standards (NCBTS)
- Cooperative Learning
- Instructional Supervisory Plan (ISP)
Knees and Toes Ice Breaker |
The 12 school heads were grouped into 4 groups. The aforementioned topics were distributed to the 4 groups of school administrators. Expected by the District In-Charge was to have only 1 presenter from every group after collaborative efforts for the learning sessions be done. To his surprise, every member in a group was having presentation using the power point. As a result, every one of them was a listener at the same time a presenter. So, TIC was motivated to delivered some topics in front of veteran principals. Exposure among TICs was clearly evident before those long-termed experience school administrators.
Receiving envelop of transpo |
All school heads were so fully concentrated to every presenter for as they realized its usefulness in their line of duties as school leaders and school managers.
"We will do this monthly, Sir" chorused by them.
The District In-Charge was so glad to reply, "In sha Allah, we will."
"Still we will tap Dr. Mohammad E. Sahirani to lecture to us on Cooperative Learning. Anyway, he's not around in this IN-SET where he must expound the teaching strategy that he strongly suggested during the recent post conference at Timbangan Elementary School" added by the school heads.
"Of course!" the District In-Charge agreed.
At 12 high noon, participants had to take break and the District In-Charge accompanied by the Disbursing Officer, Alyasir A. Hussam led the way downtown to withdraw some amount from Landbank. He just advised the school heads to continue the session at 1 PM.
