The ISD athletes left Jolo for Zamboanga City via naval boat of the Philippine Navy last May 24, 2016. The children football players was sponsored by MBLT 10 of the Philippine Marines to compete with other children football players coming from Basilan Province and other neighboring provinces. The competition was held in Air Base Sports Complest, Sta. Maria, Zamboanga City. The athletes won in some brackets but they lost in the final elimination. According to the chaperons that their players were so happy though elimination occurred to them. It was, perhaps, due to their first time to undergo long journey into a city like Zamboanga City where people of BASULTA are known to proudly engage in commercial shopping. It made to firstly experience swimming in the pool, eating in luxurious restaurant and visit remarkable parks of the city before they returned home on the 26th day of May, 2016.

The Football for Peace Festival was established in partnership with Meralco's social development arm One Meralco Foundation and football club Loyola Meralco Sarks. It was teamed up with the Philippine Marine Corps (PMC). The advocay, which was started by PMC in 2011 in Sulu, utilizes football as a tool to instill peace-loving values of sportsmanship, camaraderie, teamwork and discipline in the minds of young athletes, especially those living in conflict areas in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

Previously, children football players from Panglima Mammah Elementary School were tapped most of the time by the Philippine Marine Corps to compete with those children residing in National Capital Region, CALABARZON and many other regions in Luzon. Filomena D. Sappari, former Principal of the school reported to the DIC of Indanan South District those days that ISD players won the brackets against strong private and public schools of NCR and Luzon.
