Sir Val and Sir Ras in a 3-Day School Visitation

Sir Valentino "Val" Ting, Master Teacher of Jolo School of Fisheries and Sir Abdurasul "Ras" S. Sajili, Principal of Camp Asturias Elementary School, Jolo 3 District were assigned as District Commissioners to Indanan South District by the Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Tim J. Undain, FRIEdr. As traditionally observed, school visitation is the common activity of the district commissioner in the entire schools of the district where he/she is commissioned to. In case of Sir Val and Sir Ras, a 3-day school visitation happened in the 16 schools of ISD. It commenced with Kasambuhan Village Elementary, Panglima Mammah Elementary School, Timbangan Elementary School and Palan Elementary School in the first day, July 18, 2016.

The District Team Visitation continued again in the next day of July 19. First to receive the team was Dayuan Primary School headed by TIC, Delda J. Amdan. The team proceeded to Bunot Elementary School, Lugmah Primary School, Langpas Elementary School, Mukammali Elementary School, Poblacion Elementary School and ended in Panglima Indanan Central School in the afternoon of the 19th day of July, 2016. The Commissioners actually decided to pause the visitation on July 20 due to the paricipation of Camp Asturias Elementary School in the Simultaneous Earthquake Drill launched in Jolo, Sulu and then to be continued on Thursday, July 21, 2016. However, Municipal Memorandum to DepED-Indanan Districts caused the continuation of the itinerary for school visitation. The Memorandum signed by Hon. Hermot "Moy" D. Jikiri, New Mayor-elect called for all school administrators of both Indanan Districts including its district heads to have a face-to-face briefing and orientation on the education issues and concerns prevailing in the municipality. It would be a half-day session at SB Hall, Pasil, Indanan, Sulu last July 20, 2016 at 9:00 in the morning. In spite of this unexpected call up of the Municipal Mayor, PSDS Sam dialled his Samsung Galaxy Duos A5 2016 to Sir Ras in the evening of July 19 at around 9:00 PM. Sir Moore confirmed that the visitation would not push through on Thursday because of the contents of the municipal memorandum. Friday, perhaps would be right day for next visit.

Finally, Sir Ras decided to cancel his attendance in the Simultaneous Earthquake Drill. He designated one of his teachers in his absence and looked for a good documenters especially in photography and video recording during the drill just to continue the visitation that needed to be completed for just a period of three days. At last, the team began again in Manilop Primary School headed by TIC, Kauzar I. Jawang then to Panglima Ahajan Elementary School, Panglima Misuari Primary School, Sapah Malawm Primary School and stopped for final journey in Pasil Elementary School headed by Heade Teacher III, Faisal A. Kadil in the first period of classes in the afternoon.

Before the start of District Team Visitation, the two commissioners met ISD PSDS with his two school heads in the District Office last July 12, 2016. It was in the afternoon when the two teams began the dialogue on the duration of the two commissioners in ISD either one school year only or until closing exercises 2016. Purposes and things needed inspection during the school visitation were asked by Sir Moore. The two commissioners put out their prepared template for the collection of data. The template focused on the part of classroom teachers. Up next clarified was the conduct of post conference which was commonly expected every after school visitation based on the traditional approach of the previous commissioners to the ISD. Sir Ras and Sir Val request to have it just between the commissioners and the school heads. It should be done in a school-to-school basis and the school office should be the venue of the post conference with an abstaintion of the physical appearance of the classroom teachers. Sir Moore and the two school heads strongly suggested to allow the presence of classroom teachers but the two commissioners insisted the unallowable permit for the classroom teachers to listen to the feedbacking. Itinerary of travel was solely dependent on the decision of the PSDS as agreed in the dialogue.

The District Team Visitation was composed of two commissioners, PSDS (Driver), DPC (Driver) Naser L. Assil, DPESSC (Driver), Jahaddi J. Taulani and TIC of Panglima Misuari PS, Nagdar U. Sasapan who was also a motorcycle Driver. Sir Ras was on the back of DPC, Sir Val sat behind DPESSC while the TIC was alone looking into the data of Kiindergarten Teacher's Iinformation tasked by the PSDS. Sir Sam inspect the physical aspected of the schools. DPC escorted Sir Ras in a room-to-room inspection from Kindergarten to Grades 3 classes. Sir Moore asked every school head to be with Sir Val from Grades 4 to Grades 6 classes. The PSDS advised DPESSC to inspect the sports ground of the schools and observe the implementation of PE classes.

Most of the findings of the two commissioners were the inadequate supplies of TGs, CGs, LMs and many other materials and devices that made DepED offices laible for it. As agreed in the dialogue before the start of the visit, next activities with the two commissioners and the ISD would be indefinite and unpredictable though findings were already interpreted and emperically concluded.

The District Team Visitation were able to overcome their stresses as they finally completed their mission in the most beautiful school with scenic landscape and fabulous play area, the Pasil Elementary School.
