ISD (Indanan South District) is the Mother District of Indanan Municipality before division into Indanan North District and Indanan South District occurred in 2001. In the province of Sulu Archipelago, Indanan was first to embrace American education in Sulu after Japanese invasion in the Philippine Islands.

Right after the outbreak of Martial Law on September 21, 1972, office of the district supervisor was formally established in Km. 2, Kajatian, Indanan, Sulu. Accordingly, photo below portraits those great educators who run Indanan District or Indanan South District. From left to right in the hereunder-posted picture, they are: 1. Mandangan Paradji; 2. Tennis Grandslam Champion in 2019 SPAAM

Indanan Delegation proudly achieved Tennis Grandslam Champion Award in elementary level during awarding ceremony of Sulu Provincial Athletic Association Meet 2019 held at Sulu Provincial Sports Complex, Capitol Site, Patikul, Sulu last November 30, 2019.

This year's SPAAM made Indanan Delegation bigger. The secondary level was composed of Indanan National High School and Jolo Agricultural School while elementary level was a combination of Indanan North District and Indanan South District. The IMSB (Indanan Municipal School Board) always wanted to have one delegation to every SPAAM. It began in 2013, but IMSB disappointed to note that the delegation again turned to individual participation from 2014 to 2018.

With the advent of new Schools Division Superintendent of Sulu Division, Dr. Hji. Kiram K. Irilis, IMSB regained her lost dream on One Indanan Delegation to 2019 SPAAM. SDS advised all dual districts in every municipality of Sulu to merge one another for one SPAAM participation. As accompanied by district heads and school heads, he visited Indanan Municipal Mayor, Hermot D. Jikiri. The IMSB Chairman as agreed upon by all members committed full supports in the organization of strong athletes to compete in the different sports events to be played in 2019 SPAAM.

DepED-ARMM headed by Regional Secretary, Atty. Rasol Y. Mitmug, Jr. has sent out two Regional Memoranda enjoining all district heads/public schools district supervisors to report to their respective division office effective immediately.
