First Day Looks Lacking Moments for Sir Allen

Today, December 18, 2017 at Timbangan Elementary School firstly happened the Indnan South District Accreditation Workshop with a theme: "PROMOTING PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND SCHOOL SPORTS: EFFECTIVE COACHING AND OFFICIATING" conducted by Sulu Sports Association for both elementary and secondary school teachers headed by Tony K. Asanji, Secondary School Principal at the same time President of the SSA.

Sir Allen P. Gagara, MSU-Sulu Professor gripped the microphone to make his first-time-to-hear voice along with the first topic for the day before the ISDians and secondary school teachers right after the morning break which was so late because of not-on-time start of the opening program. PowerPoint is not friend with him because he prefers more using chalk and blackboard for the topics Diagram and Game Sequence. He eloquently expounded it using the different game category such as single elimination, double elimination and round robin. He introduced the basic formula using 4, 8, 16, 32 and so on so forth. It depends on the number team to compete. In case the number of team exceeds from the given formula for instance, there would be 35 team which was already more than the given formula. It would just simply multiply 32 by 2 that gives a product of 64. Then 64 minus 35 gives the difference of 29. So, 29 is the number of bye. The number of team is constantly deducted by 1 or minus 1 which also gives the difference of 34. So, 34 is the number of game.

In single elimination diagram, he started with 2 team. Going back to formula 4, 8, 16 and 32, the number of team which is 2 falls under formula number 4. The above-cited formula had been made by multiplying it by 2 that is why 8 appeared from 4 x 2, 16 is from 8 x 2 and 32 is from 16 x 2. 

Basically, Sir Allen began with 2 team to compete. 4 - 2 = 2 is the number of bye. 4 - 1 = 3 is the number of game. Afterwards, he showed how to diagram it on the board using bracket.

For double elimination, he also used the same formula but it is doubled. 4 team, for example minus 4 from formula is equal to zero; therefore; zero connotes none bye. 4 (number of team) minus 1 (constant) is equal to 3 and 3 is doubled or times 2 that gives the product of 6. Therefore, 6 signifies the number of game. Sir Allen also illustrated its correct diagram on the board with giving more examples using increasing number of team.

Lately, morning's session ended at 12:00 giving more than hundred participants to have taken their own lunch. Tony K. Asanji picked up the microphone telling everyone that Sir Allen would continue his lecture at exactly 1:00 in the afternoon. Diagramming and game sequence using double elimination  appeared boldly on the chalkboard. It lasted until the group of lecturers took some coffee. Supersam asked Sir Allen to temporarily postpone his inputs but he neglected the offer for coffee until he would finish the session.

Later, the President of SSA requested Sir Alnasir I. Said to talk about swimming with slightly mentioning some athletics events. He gave Sir Allen some rest to take his coffee and told to continue again after fifteen minutes.

Finally, Sir Allen entered the scene again using round robin approach for game competition. For instance in 4 team, the formula was:

 5 - 1 = 4 x 5 = 20 divided by 2 = 10

4 - 1 = 3 x 4 = 12 divided by 2 = 6

Sir Allen illustrated round robin on the chalkboard. He advised the participants to do it in a counterclock way.

He advised all the participants that they would take exam relative to his lecture by Wednesday.
