Implementing Guidelines on the Conduct of Off-Campus Activities

The Conduct of Off-Campus Activities hereby refers to DepED Order No. 66 s. 2017 dated December 27, 2017. This  policy scopes both co-curricular and extra-curricular off-campus activities for both public and private schools. Before, these two off-campus activities were the same. However, these guidelines released by DepED recognizes the great differences of extra-curricular from co-curricular activities.

DepED Ordenr No. 66 s. 2017 categorized both off-campus activities into three such as: 1. DepED Mandated and Initiated Off-Campus Activities; 2. Externally Initiated Off-Cmapus Activities; and 3. School Initiated Off-Campus Activities. It also enumerated the roles and responsibilities of school head over off-campus activities:

  1. Ensure that proposed off-campus activities are in the Annual Improvement Plan, especially those that can really be anticipated by the school
  2. Review school level activity proposals and endorse to SDO for approval
  3. Ensure the alignment of activity proposals with the target key stage and corresponding competencies of the K to 12 Curriculum
  4. Ensure that activities strictly comply with the procedures stipulated in this policy
  5. Schedule catch up learning sessions for the participants of off-campus co-curricular activities held at the division, regional or national levels who miss classes to attend said activities
  6. Resolve emerging issues and challenges in the implementation and management of school-initiated off-campus activities
  7. Submit activity reports to the SDO.
The possible question that arises or needs immediate answer is:

  1. What is the difference between Co-curricular Activities and Extra-curricular Activities?
  2. What are examples of Co-curricular Activities and Extra-curricular Activities?
