A Well-known Novel of Tausug: Katakata (Folktale)

Panukilan refers to literature in Tausug. Written works of the olden time in Lupa'sug (Sulu) were done through nukil writing. Most of their writings were religious or Islamic knowledge, rituals and songs or somewhat like psalm. Most of their songs were ballad accompanied by instruments like 'gabbang' and 'biyula' (violin). Tausug Panukilan (Tausug Literature) was rich in folklores like tales, psalms and folktales (manga katakata). This posted audio-video file is an example of folktale of those Tausug folks.
