Faisal A. Kadil Lectures on SLAC

Faisal A. Kadil, Head Teacher - III of Pasil Elementary School and Annexes lectured on newly-modified School-based Learning Action Cell in the last part of the 1-Day District Post Conference held at Timbangan Elementary School GEM Multi-Purpose, Timbangan, Indanan, Sulu last June 16, 2015. Bases of his presentation was DepED Order No. 12 s. 2015 dated April 10, 2015 entitled 'Guidelines on the Early Language, Literacy and Numeracy Program: Professional Development Component' and the handouts given during LAC Implementation Planning Workshop attended by District In-Charge in Astoria Plaza, Escrva Drive, Pasig City from May 19-21, 2015.


After presentation of the rationale of SLAC, Faisal A. Kadil grouped the teachers and personnel by school with their respective school leaders. It resulted to eleven circles of school heads and teachers. The DIC assisted Faisal A. Kadil in facilitating the groups of schools for the plenary activity of the SLAC learning session. Every circle of teachers was given six columns for them to post metacards painted with their respective experiences in conducting previous INSET in their school levels. The SLAC presenter instructed teachers to write their answers for every column in one metacard only. As shown in the PowerPoint, the six columns looked this way.

Upnext to the activity was the presentation of SLAC objectives and framework based on the School-Based Management (SBM) Manual 2006. The head Teacher - III of Pasil ES and Annexes continued the main contents of the SLAC as bulleted below.

  • Frequency of SLAC Meetings
  • SLAC Topics
  • SLAC Facilitation
  • SLAC Documentation
SLAC session ended with an activity focusing on SLAC composition. Enumerated-hereunder were the instructions flashed by the lecturer through projector.
  1. Form a circle by school.
  2. Organize your SLAC composition.
  3. Create one team for Kinder to Grade 3 and also one team for Grade 4 to Grade 6.
  4. Write the full name of SLAC leader, SLAC facilitator, SLAC documenter and SLAC members.
  5. Schedule your SLAC meeting every month.
  6. Specify the date and time.
  7. Have a copy of it in yellow pad paper.
  8. Submit SLAC composition to the presenter or DIC.
