Heroic Video: Casugay as Life-saving Surfer Instead of Gold Medal

This shortly-captured video illustrated how Roger Casugay, Philippine surfer saved his opponent instead of winning for the gold medal in SEA Games 2019.

Arip Nurhidayat was a surfer representing Indonesia in the SEA Games 2019 hosted in Philippine Arena from November 30 to December 11, 2019. Accidentally, the cruel waves in La Union crashed him with his surfboard in the midst of competition. Fortunately, one of his competitors whose heart is more life-saving than gold medal-dreaming was there grabbing him for life.

Indonesian President, Joko Widodo: My appreciation to Roger Casugay, a Filipino surfer who gave up his chance to win the gold medal in a bid to help an Indonesian athlete who fell (into the sea) during the competition.

Roger Casugay has been recognized as Fair Play Competitor manifested in his award received during the closing ceremony of the SEA Games 2019.
