School feeding highlighted February, 2017 in Indanan South District schools. It was two categories. One was SBFP (School-Based Feeding Program). The other one was SMFP (School Mass Feeding Program). These two school feeding programs were quite different from each other in terms of funding agency, target, beneficiary and strategy.
SBFP was sponsored by DepED-ARMM. It focused solely on wasted students (Malnourished learners). The source came from DepED Central Office. So, it was purely free for public elementary schools identified with 15% wasted school children. For instance, SBFP recognized 4 elementary schools, based on submitted data by school nurses in Indanan South District. It included Timbangan Elementary School, Poblacion Elementary School, Mukammali Elementary School and Pasil Elementary School. SBFP continued serving lunch for those selected beneficiaries until the 40-day period would be completed.
SMFP was launched in partnership with Asia America Initiative and parents/guardians/stakeholders of the schools. It was for the entire school children from Kindergarten to Grade 6. The total cost of menu per child was P 16.00 as prescribed by Indanan South District Coordinator on Health and Nutrition, Hja. Shar-Husna C. Salim. It was implemented in a voluntary-basis. For example if any school wanted the program, every parent/guardian should give P 8.00 counterpart and Prof. Albert M. Santoli, President of AAI would do the same to reach the cost of menu per meal. In other words, it would be in a 50-50 partnership strategy. AAI would always be ready to donate P 8.00 counterpart per student in the entire schools of ISD. Any school applying for the SMFP should accomplish Partnership Form with attached show money that should be submitted to the ISD AAI Coordinator, Sharifa Mharrojheanne A. Alih. SMFP aims to attract school children towards maximizing their daily attendance in their respective classes. As of today, the 18 schools of ISD almost enjoy the fun of SMFP except Panglima Mammah Elementary School and Palan Elementary School. SMFP partner-schools of AAI are: 1. Kasambuhan Village Elementary School; 2. Timbangan Elementary School; 3. Bunot Elementary School; 4. Poblacion Elementary School; 5. Mukammali Elementary School; 6. Langpas Elementary School; 7. Manilop Primary School; 8. Panglima Ahajan Elementary School; 9. Panglima Misuari Primary School; 10. Cmdr. Bara Jalaidi Primary School; 11. Pasil Elementary School; 12. Sapah Malawm Primary School; 13. Day Care of Barangay Sapah Malawm; 14. Sapie Primary School; and the two incoming schools (Dayuan Primary School and Lugmah Primary School).
Food assistance and relief goods were distributed among the parents/guardians of school children officially-enrolled in Sapie Primary School last February 24, 2017.The Indanan Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Committee in partnership with DSWD, PNP and KABALIKAT did an instant response to the IDPs in three sitios of Barangay Paligue where Sapie PS is located. IDPs were housed in Langgal Puti', Bakud and Social Hall, Paligue, Indanan, Sulu. The basis for the distribution of food assistance and relief goods was the official list submitted by the EiE (Education in Emergency) Team of ISD spearheaded by the ISD DRRMC Coordinator, Faisal A. Kadil, Elementary School Head Teacher 3 of Pasil Elementary School.
February, 2017 also fed ISD schools with sufficient data. It made every school to do amazing works that schools did not act on it since many years ago. Every school needed accurately-sufficient data to maximize their ESIP (Enhanced School Improvement Plan) until it would be rated as level 3. Level 3 ESIP would be the basis for the issuance of MOOE by the DepED-ARMM.
